Bellevue Colonies
Project Overview
Located within the Bellevue area of the City, the Colonies development aimed to replicate the unique character, identity and community found in the original colony dwellings, built in the latter half of the 19th Century, across Edinburgh.
There is a sense of community which comes from sharing footpaths, gates and external stairs. Each dwelling benefits from a private garden space, and the location of the staircases, directed towards each other, provide a social aspect and encourages interaction between neighbours. To achieve all this within an inner-city site is extremely rare and has proven to be very popular.
